Sol nightlife is the practical centre: Joy Eslava on Calle del Arenal, Gran Vía for a drink with neon, and Fitz Club up at Plaza de España when you want a produced Saturday. It is the easiest area without a plan, and the easiest place to get sold a bad one.
Ignore the street ticket
People working Gran Vía and Sol with ‘free entry’ lanyards are not the club. Buy Joy, Fitz or Kapital from the venue. A central hotel is worth it for a first night because you can walk home from Joy. It is a bad base if you want quiet at 3am.

What is the club closest to Puerta del Sol?
Joy Eslava, Calle del Arenal 11, is the one you can actually walk from the square. Fitz is at Plaza de España, one neighbourhood over. Kapital is down in Huertas toward Atocha.
